Italian maiden winner Capitan bought by Valor

CAPITAN FUTURO, the winner of a maiden on the all-weather at Capannelle last month, has been purchased by Barry Irwin's Team Valor.

The US-based syndicate, who will run the Italian-bred Lucky Chappy in the Group 2 UAE Derby, bought their latest recruit, a son of Dalakhani, from Angelo Candi's yard in Italy.

Capitan Futuro is named after AS Roma's dynamic midfielder Daniele De Rossi and was awarded the relatively high ItaliaForm rating of 98 after his victory (85 RPR).

The Dalakhani colt will be transferred to John Hammond's yard in Chantilly and will be targeted at the Italian Derby.

Agent Marco Bozzi parted with €21,000 to secure the colt at Deauville's Arqana Breeze-Up Sale. He is the first foal out of the unraced Sadler's Wells mare Showstar, a mare who descends from a family that includes the Grade 1-placed Law Society mare Fanjica.
