Ballymacoll welcomes first new foal of 2009
BALLYMACOLL Stud in Ireland welcomed its first foal of 2009 when multiple Group 1 winner Islington gave birth to a bay filly by Dansili last Thursday.
Islington was bred and raced by Ballymacoll. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the daughter of Sadler's Wells won six races incuding the Nassau Stakes, the Yorkshire Oaks twice, and the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.
She has a four-year-old filly by Rainbow Quest named London Bid who finished unplaced in two starts last year for Stoute, and a three-year-old filly by Gone West who was sold as a foal for $2.4m. She aborted a foal by Storm Cat in 2007 and was barren to Kingmambo last year.
Ballymacoll has an illustrious band of 22 mares, including Islington's dam Hellenic and the mothers of last year's Group winners Tartan Bearer and Patkai.
