Island Fashion sets the early pace at Keeneland
THE early proceedings on day one of the Keeneland January Sale saw one of the expected highlights, Island Fashion, lead theopening trade.
The grey mare by Petionville was offered by Pope McLean for Everest Stables and fetched $950,000. She was bought by Northern Farm's Katsumi Yoshida who spent $3.2 million on three mares at last autumn's Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. The dual Group 1 winner was sold in-foal to Ghostzapper.
The first half-hour into the session saw the sale's first big price when Elusive Diva, a daughter of Elusive Quality and a multiple Group race winner, wasbought by Claiborne Farm as agent for $825,000. She has had one foal by Bernardini and was sold in foal to Giant's Causeway.
