My Indy (Indygo Shiner - My Light)

THE first Group race of the Dubai Carnival 2009 was won, with ease, by My Indy, a Saeed Bin Suroor-trained son of Indygo Shiner, a stallion who has recently relocated from Argentina to Hill ‘n' Dale Farms  in America.

A leading sire in Argentina, and sire of the 2008 Grade 1 Nacional-Argentine Derby (Argentine Derby) winner Tecla Shiner, Indygo Shiner is a son of A P Indy and out of a graded stakes-winning sister to the multiple Group 1-producing mare, the recently deceased Toussand.

In 2008 he was also the sire of Miss Match, winner of the Gran Premio Seleccion (Argentine Oaks) - he is the only stallion in modern Argentine history to sirethe winners of the two races in the same season. He has had just two crops to race.

When transferred to Hill ‘n' Dale in the late autumn, manager John Sikura described the horse as "a product of two of the world's leading breeders, Lane's End and Juddmonte Farms".

My Indy was bred in Argentina by Haras la Quebrada, which stands a number of stallions including El Corredor, Southern Halo, Luhuk and former European runner Russian Blue.

His dam My Light is an unraced daughter of Southern Halo, his sister, Oystercatcher by Luhuk, is a Grade 3 winner in Argentina, while his half-sister Merry Sweet, is the dam of two Argentine Grade 1 winners, both by Southern Halo.
