Increased catalogue for Barretts March sale

A BOB And John half-sister to last year's Grade 1 First Lady Stakes winner Never Retreat heads 149 lots catalogued for the Barretts March Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training in California on March 5.

The catalogue is 41 per cent larger than the 2011 renewal, when 55 horses sold for a total of $5,539,000, down 11.5 per cent from 2010, and average of $100,709, which represented a rise of 11 per cent.

The breeze is scheduled to be held March 2 at Fairplex Park, which is adjacent to Barretts.

Among the Grade 1 winners to have graduated from the sale are Brother Derek, Came Home, Henny Hughes, Officer, Royal Anthem, Unbridled's Song and Yes It's True.

Many of America's leading stallions are represented, including Candy Ride, Congrats, Giant's Causeway, Indian Charlie, Kitten's Joy, Lemon Drop Kid, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d'Oro, Pulpit, Street Cry, Tapit and Unbridled's Song.

The catalogue also features two-year-olds from the first crops of Big Brown, Curlin, Henrythenavigator, Midnight Lute and Street Boss.
