German star Adlerflug to stand at Gestüt Harzburg

DUAL German Group 1 winner Adlerflug will commence stud duties at Gestüt Harzburg next year.

The five-year-old son of In The Wings won the 2007 DeutschesDerby by seven lengths and scored in the Deustchland Preis in the following season.

He also finished second in successive renewals of the Grosser Preis von Baden at three and four, and was a narrowly-beaten third behind Vision D'Etat in this year's Prix Ganay.

While preparing for a crack at the Grand Prix de Chantilly on his next start after the Ganay in May, he fractured a cannon bone and was forced into a premature retirement.

Adlerflug hails from the outstanding family of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Urban Sea and her Derby-winning sons Sea The Stars and Galileo, and other Group 1 winners King's Best, Anabaa Blue and Tamayuz.

He will stand for a syndicate including majority shareholder Harzburg, which is owned by German bank Norddeutschen Landesbank, and Gestüt Schlenderhan, who bred and raced the horse.

A stud fee will be announced in the near future.
