Goffs release 535-strong Land Rover catalogue

GOFFS has released a catalogue of 535 lots for the Land Rover Sale on June 9 and 10. The catalogue is only five lots smaller than last year when the two-day auction turned over almost €3.5m, a sharp contraction from the near €7m recorded in 2008.

The average dropped from €15,665 to €11,845 and the median to €9,500 from €12,000.

Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Chase winners Imperial Commander and Big Zeb were sold for €19,000 and €34,000 at the 2004 renewal of this sale, and a close relation to the latter, by Dr Massini, has been catalogued this time around.

Also catalogued are the siblings to Peddlers Cross, Bacchanal, Newmill, Luska Lad, Chomba Womba, Keen Leader as well as close relations to  Scorpion, Sir Rembrandt, Jodami, Accordion Etoile, Comply Or Die and Captain Cee Bee.

For the first time, two year olds will be offered while all three and four-year-olds catalogued are eligible for the €100,000 Land Rover Bumper at the 2011 Punchestown Festival

"The Goffs team has compiled a seriously strong catalogue for the Land Rover Sale and we are confident that buyers will find a host of future stars and great value at the sale in June," said Henry Beeby, chief executive of Goffs.

"Goffs graduates dominated the major races at this year's Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals - the holy grail of National Hunt racing - and for an auction house there is no greater advertisement for the horses we sell."
