Paint filly adds splash
of colur at Tattersalls

A SPLASH of colour will be added to Friday's morning session of the Tattersalls October Sale when Painted Angel, a filly from the second crop of I Was Framed, is offered as lot 1850.

As her name suggests, the April-born filly is registered as a paint sinceher chestnut coat is marked with splashes of white.

Bred by Mette Campbell-Andenaes, who also bred Presvis and Sand Vixen, she is out of the winning-Komaite mare Angelic Dancer and from the family of Long Row and Mind Games.

However, Painted Angel inherits her flashy colourings from I Was Framed, who is one of only two coloured Thoroughbred stallions standing in Europe and the first to be officially registered by Weatherbys.

The unraced stallion- a great grandson of Halo - was imported by Campbell-Andenaes from the US, and has seven first crop two-year-olds to represent him this year. He stood the past season for £1,500 at Rectory Farm Stud, who will offer Painted Angel at Tattersalls on Friday.

"Mette is very enthusiastic about coloured horses and promoting them," explained Martin Ward of Rectory Farm, a Sutton-based stud which is also home to Group 3 winner Hamairi and multiple scorer Ain'tlifelikethat. "She sent some beautifully bred mares to him this year, including several who were rated over 100 on the track.

"There's certainly been a lot of interest in her, and who knows - in this climate, she could offer something exciting to people."
