Hyde pays €215,000 for Duke Of Marmalade foal

The second lot of the day to breach the six figure barrier duly topped last year’s highest price of €200,000 as leading pinhooker Timmy Hyde paid €215,000 to secure only the second son of Duke Or Marmalade to come under the hammer.

Sold by Michael Ryan’s Al Eile Stud the colt comes from the first crop of the last great son of Danehill who retired to stud as the Champion European Older Horse of 2008 when he reeled off  five Group 1 successes that season.

Preceding this horse into the ring was a  son of Acclamation belonging to John Doyle for whom Paddy Twomey paid €80,000. He is a half-brother to the useful Bunce out of an own-sister to the Stakes-winning dam of of the Coronation Stakes runner-up Infallible.
