Champion English Channel's first foal born

THE first foal by six-time Grade 1 winner English Channel was born last Thursday. It is a filly out of the ChileanClassic winner Ser O No Ser, a daughter of Golden Voyager owned by John Stuart and Jose De Camargo's Santa Escolastica.

Stuart said: "This is my first foal of the year and I couldn't be
more thrilled to have it be a beautiful filly by a champion out of a champion. I admired English Channel as much as any racehorse I've seen run this century."

A son of Smart Strike, English Channel won the United Nation Stakes and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational both at four and at five. He also won the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at four and the Breeders' Cup Turf at five.

He stands at Hurricane Hall Stud in Kentucky, at a fee of $25,000 in 2009.
