Montjeu has sideline appeal as hurdles sire

BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle  (Grade 1), Leopardstown, 2m

HURRICANE FLY (7yo b g Montjeu - Scandisk,
by Kenmare)

Breeder: Agricola del Parco in Ireland

WHILE Montjeu is best-known for  producing top-class middle-distance Flat performers such as Hurricane Run, Motivator and Papal Bull, the rising impact of Hurricane Fly suggests he might also have off-shoot appeal in the jumps sphere.

Montjeu has also sired  high-class hurdlers such as Won In The Dark and Blue Bajan.

Hurricane Fly, a €65,000 Goffs purchase in 2005, is out of the Kenmare mare Scandisk, atwo-year-old winner in Italy, herself out of a sister to dual Ballymoss Stakes winner Yankee Gold and Pretty Polly Stakes winner Lady Singer.

The cross of Montjeu over Kenmare has also come up trumps with Royal Lodge and Preis von Europa winner Jukebox Jury.
