Kid a first graded chase winner for sire Kayf Tara

Darley-owned and Overbury Stud-based stallion Kayf Tara, who has had graded winners over hurdles, gained his first graded chase winner on Saturday when Kornati Kid got up to win the Grade 2 novice chase at Wetherby

Kayf Tara is a son of Sadler's Wells and he finished off the 2007-08 season with 30 winners of 52 races, 14th in the sires' list by winners.

His best progeny to date includes Carruthers, a Grade 2 winner over hurdles and who has won one novice chase, the progressive Michael Flips, who cost £200,000 at the 2008 Brightwells April Sale, has won over hurdles and holds two Festival entries, as well as the dual novice chase winner Planet Of Sound, who holds an Arkle entry.

Kayf Tara was one of the few stallions to be given a fee increase for the 2009 season from £2,500 to £4,500, his most expensive fee to date having retired at a fee of £3,000.

Kornatin Kid is a first foal out of the five-time-winning mare Hilstontown Lass. He was bred by Mr Mayoh and was sold initially at the DBS Spring Sale by Mill House Stud to Aiden Murphy for 7,000gns.

He was reconsigned by Ballincurrig House Stud at the Tattersalls Ireland 2006 Derby Sale where he was purchased by Philip Hobbs for €60,000.

Hiltonstown Lass has five-year-old by Loup Sauvage, bred by Seamus Kearney, and a four and three-year-olds by Tikkanen.
