Wertheimer horse Exhi to stud in Canada

HIGHFIELD Stock Farm in Alberta, Canada, has purchased the Wertheimer brothers-owned and bred Grade 2 winner Exhi.

The four-year-old son of Maria's Mon was trained by Todd Pletcher to win the Grade 2 Lexington Stakes over 1m1f at three and the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes over 1m1f at four.

Exhi is out of the Polish Numbers mare Soldera, a winner of the Listed Valiant Stakes for James Fanshawe before being sold to the Wertheimers for $600,000 at the 2004 Keeneland November breeding-stock sale.

Maria's Mon died at the peak of his powers aged 14 in 2007. He is also the sire of Kentucky Derby winners Monarchos and Super Saver plus Grade 1 winners including Awesome Maria, Latent Heat, Monba, Monzante and Wait A While.

Exhi will stand alongside Grade 2 winner Cape Canaveral at Highfield Stock Farm.
