High-class sprinter
Ventana retired to stud

GRADE 2 winner Ventana hasbeen retired to stand at Dana Point Farm in Pennsylvania.

The six-year-old son of Toccet was a high-class 6 to 7 furlong performer for Bob Baffert, winning the 2010 Grade 2 Potrero Grande Handicap at Santa Anita and the 2011 Grade 3 Maryland Sprint Handicap at Pimlico.

In all, he won four of 21 starts and $383,106 in prize-money.

"Ventana was a very useful horse with a high turn of speed," said trainer Bob Baffert. "He competed atthe Graded stakes level from ages two through five and was competitive and sound throughout."

Ventana will take the place at Dana Point Farm of his Grade 1-winning sire Toccet, who has been sold to stand in Oklahoma.
