Rob Roy retired to stud

GROUP 2 winner Rob Roy will stand at a fee of £2,000 at Hedgeholme Stud in Co. Durham next season.

The son of Lear Fan retires as the winner of three races including the Group 2 Sandown Mile and Group 3 Joel Stakes.

He also defeated the likes of Hurricane Run and Sir Percy when second in the Champion Stakes, and Aussie Rules and Araafa when third in the SussexStakes.

A stint in the US also yielded a third place to After Market in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap.

A $300,000 purchase as a yearling, Rob Roy is the highest-rated performer out of the Gone West mare Camanoe, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Super Staff and Dubai World Cup third Public Purse.
