First Group winner
for Firebreak

Hearts Of Fire became sire Firebreak's first Group winner when successful in the Group 3 Zukunfts-Rennen at Baden-Baden on Friday.

Successful trainer Pat Eddery said: "I wasn't so sure he would handle the ground. He'd never raced on soft before and we were totally in the dark but he handled things perfectly.

"This was my first Group winner and my first runner in Germany. He'll have one more run. I'll talk things over with the owners but I'd like to try a Group 1 now."

Jockey Olivier Peslier, who had gained an easy win on the colt in a Listed race at Deauville, said: "I was very happy with him today. He had been rather keen at Deauville but really relaxed here and I think he's improved."

Hearts of Fire is now the winner of three races having been successful in the Listed Prix Francois Boutin at Deauville last time out and winner of the Brocklesby on his first start in March. He has run six times.

Firebreak stands at Bearstone Stud in Shropshire and was available to breeders at £3,000 in 2009.
