Son of Moonshell
breaks maiden

HATTA Diamond, the sixth and final foal outof the 1995 Oaks heroine Moonshell, opened his account at the second time of asking on Monday for trainer Mark Johnston with a gritty head success in the 1m 1/2f maiden at Wolverhampton.

Moonshell died from foaling complications after giving birth to the Pivotal colt in January 2006. As well as Hatta Diamond, the daughter of Sadler's Wells is also the dam of the Listed-placed Alunissage (Rainbow Quest) and the unraced Forest Pearl (Woodman), who went on to produce the crack Australian filly Miss Finland (Redoute's Choice).

Moonshell's dam, Moon Cactus, was an accomplished performer during her brief career for Henry Cecil, taking the Group 3 Prestige Stakes and finishing second in the Prix de Diane.

The daughter of Kris was just as effective at stud, producing the King George winner Doyen and Australian Group 2 winner Hatha Anna to Sadler's Wells, and the Listed winner Ocean Of Storms to Arazi.

Moon Cactus died two weeks after her daughter in 2006 following complications after foaling a Singspiel colt.
