Tiznow's sire Cee's Tizzy retired from stud duties

CEE'S TIZZY, sire of Tiznow, has been retired from stud duties at Harris Farms in California at the age of 23.

The son of Relaunch has helped rekindle the Man o' War sire line, mainly thanks to Tiznow's success at stud.

Tiznow won the Breeders' Cup Classic twice in 2000 and 2001 and has flourished as a stallion at WinStar Farm in Kentucky. His six Group/Grade 1 winners include Dubai World Cup hero Well Armed and Belmont Stakes scorer Da'Tara.

Harris Farms manager said of Cee's Tizzy: "His fertility diminished over the last two years, and this past year he only settled four mares. We thought it would be in his best interest to retire him and have him enjoy his remaining years without the stress of the breeding shed.

"He's in excellent health and looks like he's 15. He's certainly willing to go to the breeding shed, but his fertility has dropped off."

Cee's Tizzy's finest hour on the track cmae when third in the 1990 Grade 1 Super Derby behind Home At Last and Unbridled.

Cee's Tizzy has sired 39 stakes winners including other Grade 1 scorers Gourmet Girl and Cost of Freedom.
