Heatseeker moves from Kentucky to California

HEATSEEKER, who finished third in the National Stakes for David Wachman before becoming a Grade 1 winner in America, has been switched from Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Kentucky to Harris Farms in California for 2012.

Heatseeker's finest hours came in California, where he won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap at Santa Anita and the Grade 2 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park at five for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.

Bred in Ireland by Grangecon Stud, he was not sold at €90,000 at the 2004 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale but won his first two starts and then ran third to George Washington in the National Stakes.

Heatseeker retired to Hill 'n' Dale in 2009 at a fee of $20,000 and his first crop are yearlings. His fee at Harris Farms next year will be $6,500.

A son of Giant's Causeway, Heatseeker is out of the Defensive Play mare Rusty Back, a half-sister to Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes winner Spanish Fern from the family of top-level scorers Hearts Of Fire, Lord Shanakill and Al Bahathri and her son Haafhd.
