In-form Highclere and Juddmonte strike again

Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2), Ascot, 1m4f, 4yo+

HARBINGER (c Dansili - Penang Pearl by Bering)

Breeder: Nick Ooi

HARBINGER justified 8-11 favouritism with a scornful dismissal of the opposition in the Hardwicke Stakes.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old unites some of the biggest success stories of this year's Royal Ascot, as he becomes the third winner of the meeting for both Juddmonte stallion Dansili and owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.

Dansili has already struck with Windsor Forest Stakes heroine Strawberrydaiquiri and King George V Handicap scorer Dandino, while Highclere syndicates also had their colours borne to victory by Norfolk Stakes winner Approve and Albany Stakes winner Memory.

Harbinger is also the third winner of the week owned by Khalid Abdullah, after Byword and Timepiece, and the sixth sired by a stallion who stands at Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket.

Harbinger, bred by Nick Ooi, is the fifth foal out of Penang Pearl, a daughter of Bering and maternal granddaughter of Group 3 winner Sauceboat.

Penang Pearl won the Listed October Stakes for Ooi.

Bloodstock agent John Warren purchased Harbinger for 180,000gns at Book 1 of the 2007 Tattersalls October yearling sale.

Penang Pearl also has a two-year-old colt by Sakhee, a yearling colt by Zamindar and was covered by Manduro last year.
