ZAFEEN, winner of the St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, has purchased by the Haras du Petit Tellier in Normandy in a private deal brokered byRichard Venn and Jeremie Bossert.

The nine-year-old son of Zafonic has spent his whole stud career so far at Overbury Stud under the management of Darley.

His first crop of two-year-olds raced this season and include four individual winners in Britain and Ireland. Another runner, Zafeereli, became the stallion's first winner when scoring at Saint-Cloud in France.

Trained by Mick Channon, Zafeen was a high-class two-year-old, winning the Mill Reef Stakes and running a close second in the Prix Morny to Elusive City. The following year, he ran second in the 2,000 Guineas before defeating the likes of Hold That Tiger and Clodovil in the St. James's Palace Stakes.

Patrick Chedeville owner of Haras du Petit Tellier said: " I am delighted to get the horse and he will compliment my existing stallions Meshaheer, Vespone and Way of Light."
