Makybe Diva lands the Melbourne Cup

Half-brother to Makybe Diva tops Inglis third day

A HALF-BROTHER to three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Dive proved the highlight on the closing day of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when selling to champion trainer Peter Moody for A$1.2 million (£618,387/€949,462).

By Street Cry, the colt was offered by Tony Santic's Makybe stud and was knocked down to Moody after a battle with Gai Waterhouse.

The three-day Easter Sale drew turnover of  $72,825,000 and a slightly improved clearance rate of 83 per cent.The average price for 330 lots sold was A$220,682.

Juddmonte sire Oasis Dream topped the sire average with two lots sold for an average of A$438,000, followed closely by Redoute's Choice with a more substantial 26 sold for A$429,808.
