Half-brother to Impact sells for nearly £2 million

THE positive trends from the first day of the JRHA Select Sale at Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido contined when the attention switched from yearlings to foals. The highlight proved to be a Yen250 million (£1,973,487/€2,245,964)  half-brother to Deep Impact.

Consigned by Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm, which also sold Monday's £2.8 million record breaking yearling, the colt is out of the British-trained German Oaks winner Wind In Her Hair, by Alzao, who is also granddam of Irish National Stud sire Jeremy.

Once more the session topper was bought by Nobutaka Tada's Global Equine Management.

Progeny by Deep Impact himself proved predictably popular, with a colt out of Grade 2 winning mare Magic Storm making Yen130,000,000 (£1,025,295/€1,166,853). Once again consigned by Northern Park,  he was bought by Hajime Satomi.
