Group 3 winner Layman transferred to Sweden

GROUP 3 winner Layman, last year's leading first-season sire in France, will stand at Ljungstorps Stud in southern Sweden next season.

The Darley-owned stallion, who will be the first son of Sunday Silence based in Sweden, has stood each of his five seasons at stud to date at Haras du Logis in France, latterly at a fee of €4,000.

He will stand for €2,500 in 2012.

Layman was a high-class juvenile for Andre Fabre and Sheikh Mohammed, winning half his four starts at two including the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg by five lengths. Transferred to Godolphin, he went on to win the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury.

From two crops of racing age, Layman is the sire of 27 winners including multiple scorer Gerash.
