A SHIN Forward, winner of the 2010 Group 1 Mile Championship at Kyoto, has been retired to stand at Lex Stud in Japan, according to a statement from the Japan Racing Association (JRA).

The seven-year-old American-bred son of Forest Wildcat retires as the winner of six of 31 starts and over $3.4 million in earnings.

In addition to the Mile Championship, A Shin Forward also won the Group 3 Hankyu Hai at Hanshin and ran a close third in the Group 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo.

Trainer Masato Nishizono paid tribute to A Shin Forward in a JRA statement. He said: "We have a lot of memories with him. With his speed and American pedigree, he will be a good stallion."

Bred in New York by Edition Farm, A Shin Forward is the first foal out of the 2003 New York Champion Turf Female Wake Up Kiss, a daughter of Cure the Blues. He was purchased by Hirotsugo Hirai for $290,000 at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Two-Year-Olds in Training sale.
