Group 1 sire Danzero sold by Arrowfield

GROUP 1 winner Danzero, a former shuttler to Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket, has been sold by Arrowfield Stud to stand at Rosemont Stud, a new operation based in Victoria, for the upcoming southern hemisphere season.

The Golden Slipper-winning son of Danehill was trained in Victoria by Lee Freedman and began his stud career in the southern state before joining the Arrowfield roster at Scone in the 1990s.

Arrowfield boss John Messara is pleased to see Danzero, who has sired seven Group 1 winners, return to Victoria as he feels he will prove a big success in that environment.

"He provides Victoria with a proven stallion of his quality," said Messara.

"It would be fair to say he can be missed in the crush of stallions these days in New South Wales but there is no doubt he is one of the finest stallions we have had at Arrowfield.

"He was bred by us, sold by us, bought back by us and was Danehill's first Group One winner.

"Understandably, we will be sad to see him go, but I know he's going to a home that will give him the best opportunity to finish his career in a flurry."

Danzero will be the foundation sire at Rosemont Stud. The 19-year-old will be restricted to a select book of around 80 mares a season on a fee of A$10,000 plus GST.

Danzero is the sire of 37 stakes winners with his seven Group 1 winners led by champion two-year-old Dance Hero, the first horse to win the Magic Millions-Golden Slipper Stakes double.
