Grade 2 winner Ready's Image off the mark

GRADE 2 winner Ready's Image became the latest American first-season sire to get off the mark when Leinan made a striking winning debut at Keeneland on Friday.

The Josie Carroll-trained filly made all in the 4 1/2f event to score by five lengths from Kansas, a first-crop runner for Coolmore freshman sire Majestic Warrior.

Bred in Kentucky by Robert B. Trussell Jr, John T L Jones III and Empire Partners Ltd, Leinan is a half-sister to minor stakes winners Willow Bunch and Natural Speed. She is out of Golden Mirage, an Irish-bred daughter of Green Desert who won the 1997 Marble Hill Stakes for Mick Channon.

Leinan was pinhooked as a foal by Kingston Farm for $39,000 at the Keeneland November Sale and resold to Winsong Farm for $80,000at last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale. She was unsold for $150,000 at the OBS March Select Two-year-old Sale earlier this year.

Ready's Image was a high-class two-year-old, winning the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes and running second to Majestic Warrior in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes. The son of More Than Ready stands at Walmac Farm in Kentucky for $5,000.
