Grade 1 winner Citronnade put down

CITRONNADE, a  Grade 1 winner for Frank Stronach's Adena Springs, was put down on April 1 following surgery for colic.

A month earlier, the six-year-old daughter of Lemon Drop Kid had produced a stillborn foal by Ghostzapper at Adena Springs.

Citronnade became a leading older turf mare for trainer Bobby Frankel during the 2007 season, capturing nine races headed by the Grade 1 Gamely Handicap and Grade 2 Dahlia, Beverly Hills, San Gorgonio and Santa Ana Handicaps. She retired with earnings of nearly $900,000.

A daughter of 2000 Canadian Broodmare of the Year Primarily, Citronnade was a half-sister to Canadian champions Poetically and Primaly.
