Grade 1 winner After Market sires first winner

AFTER Market, a Grade 1 winner by Storm Cat, was represented by his first winner when Bette's Aftershock made a successful debut in a 5f maiden special weight at Lone Star Park in Texas on Thursday.

Bred by Milan Kosanovich in Florida, the colt is the thirdfoal out of minor stakes winner Winsome, a War Chant half-sister to the dam of the William Haggas-trained Listed Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes winner Shamandar. Unsold for $7,500 at the Keeneland September Sale, he was knocked down to owner Dale Schenian for $30,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Texas Two-year-old Sale.

Successful in his only start at two, After Market developed into one of America's leading turf performers as a three and four-year-old, winning a further seven races including the Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap.

Bette's Aftershock is one of five runners from his sire's first 94-strong crop, which were produced off a fee of $30,000. The son of Storm Cat, who is a brother to Group 3 winner and $9.7 million yearling Jalil, is standing the current season for $7,500 at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky.
