Grade 1-placed Chocolate Candy to stud in Canada

GRADE 1-placed Chocolate Candy has been retired to stand at Bar None Ranches in Alberta, Canada.

The five-year-old son of Candy Ride is the fourth colt by his sire to enter stud in 2012 following Kentucky entrants Misremembered, Sidney's Candy and Twirling Candy. He will stand his first season for $2,500.

Bred and raced by the Craig Family Trust, Chocolate Candy was successful in four races led by the 2009 Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby. The Jerry Hollendorfer-trained colt also finished second in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby.

He is one of two stakes runners out of the stakes-winning Seattle Slew mare Crownette, the third dam of Candy Ride's Grade 1-winning son Twirling Candy.
