MAKFI (Dubawi- Dhelaal by Green Desert)

Breeder: Shadwell Estate Company Limited

DUBAWI'S leading performer Makfi gave his already strong performance record a powerful boost on Sunday when upstaging hot-shot milers Goldikova and Paco Boy in the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.

Dubawi himself won the Prix Jacques le Marois as a three-year-old, in 2005.

Makfi, winner of the 2,000 Guineas, was bred by Shadwell Estates but sold at the Autumn Horses In Training sale at Tattersalls for 26,000gns. Makfi has only been beaten once in five starts, when seventh as favourite in the St James's Palace Stakes.

From the first crop of Dubawi, Makfi is out of a half-sister to champion juvenile Alhaarth. He also hails from the further family of Authorized - both Makfi and the 2007 Derby winner share the same third dam, Green Valley.
