Desert King given a
25 per cent fee reduction

BOMBORA DOWNS and Lynden Park Stallions in Australia have announced their 2009 fees, with all three of its stallions given fee reductions.

Bombora's manager Christoph Bruchert said: "In uncertain times it is tempting to do nothing. The reality is there has never been a better opportunity to invest in this exciting industry.

"Australian racing and prize-money is still among the best in the world. Broodmare prices for the first time in many years offer very real investment opportunities and our stallions' service fees are following suit.

"The resultant progeny from this year's matings will have less competition both in the sales ring and on the racetrack. This is hardly the time to do nothing."

The Bombora fees are:

  • A$9,900 Desert King (Danehill-Sabaah (Nureyev)
    from A$13,200
  • $5,500 Golden Snake (Danzig-Dubian (High Line))
    from A$6,600
  • $4,400 Lago Delight (Encosta de Lago-Sweet Delight
    (Rancho Ruler)) from  A$8,800

All stallions are offered on what the stud is calling a "Flexi Free Return" which means that clients can use the free return if their mare does not produce a live foal.

It can be used on any mare in any year - until they get their live foal at 24 hours old, as long as the stallion stands at Bombora Downs.

In order for this to apply, clients must have paid their service fee on time and the mare must have had a positive pregnancy test and certificate at 45 days.
