French stallion Goldneyev dies aged 24
GOLDNEYEV, sire of Gold Away and a runner-upto Kendor in the 1989 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, has died aged 24.
Goldneyev's only victory came on his two-year-old debut, a Listed event over 6f at Deauville, and he was placed in all bar his last of six starts.
Originally retired to his owner-breeder Jacques Wertheimer's Haras de Saint Leonard Parks, Goldneyev's pedigree provided his strongest selling point to breeders: the son of Nureyev was out of the Arc winner Gold River, by Riverman.
The stallion latterly resided at Haras de Mirande, where he had stood for more than a decade, most recently commanding a fee of €2,500.
