Goffs/DBS launch new Flat HiT auction

GOFFS and DBS are to hold their first joint sale venture since the companies merged in 2007.

They will hold a boutique sale of highly rated Flat horses in training after racing at the DBS sales complex near Doncaster racecourse on Friday, September 9, the eve of the St Leger.

Goffs/DBS has enjoyed healthy receipts with two new select horses in training sales in its calendar this year.

Henry Beeby: "exciting venture"

The DBS Newbury Festivals Sale in March recorded turnover of £900,000 and saw five horses sell for six figures.

Goffs' Punchestown Sale this month achieved an aggregate of just over €1million and a top price of €200,000.

Goffs and DBS are drawing comparisons between its new horses in training sale at Doncaster and the Arqana Arc Sale, a popular boutique sale of high-class Flat horses that takes place on the eve of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

No more than 50 horses will be accepted for the new DBS sale.

Goffs/DBS group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "The success of the Goffs and DBS sales this year at Punchestown and Newbury, as well as the breeze-up sales at Kempton and DBS, proves that demand for quality horses who are ready to run is higher than ever.

"The St Leger meeting at Doncaster is the perfect fit for this sale as it attracts all the key UK and international owners and trainers while we can utilise the excellent facilities at DBS for the sale. As we did at the Kempton breeze-up in particular, we will aim to make this sale an enjoyable and social occasion for potential purchasers.

"This is an exciting new venture for the Goffs/DBS Group.  There is a real sense of positivity, enthusiasm and momentum within both teams following the successes of our earlier sales this year and we look forward to working together to attract the best horses from Ireland and the UK and jointly promote a top-class catalogue to a global audience.”
