DBS switches jumps breeze-up to Newbury

DBS has switched its National Hunt breeze-up sale to Newbury racecourse. This year's renewal will be held at the Berkshire track on Saturday, November 27, to coincide with the Hennessy Gold Cup meeting.

The new date is likely to present a clash with the last day of the foal section of the Tattersalls December sale.

The last two DBS National Hunt breeze-ups have been held at Kempton Park, and until 2007 the sale took place at Cheltenham racecourse, before Brightwells secured exclusive rights to sell there.

Lots will breeze on the grass canter down of the Flat course at Newbury on the Saturday morning and will come under the hammer after racing later in the day.

DBS managing director Henry Beeby said: "DBS are delighted to reschedule the world's premier National Hunt breeze-up sales to coincide with the prestigious Hennessy meeting at Newbury.

"The move allows us to carry on the success that we achieved at both Cheltenham and Kempton and we are sure that the timing, facilities and location will be a huge success for both vendors and purchasers."

Last year's DBS National Hunt breeze-up sale at Kempton saw 21 horses (40 per cent of those offered) sell at an average of £27,071 and median of £22,000. Graduates of past renewals include this year's RSA Chase hero Weapon's Amnesty.
