DBS October Sales catalogue published

DONCASTER Bloodstock Sales has released the catalogue for its three-day October Sales, which takes place this year from October 20 to 21.

A total of 255 yearlings have been entered to be sold on the first day of trading, including an Auction House filly who is a sister to this season's Windsor castle Stakes runner-up Fratellino and an Exceed And Excel filly out ofa half-sister to Group/Grade 1-winning pair Kingsfort and Prince Arch.

During the yearling section of last year's DBS October Sales, 151 lots – 59 per cent of the 257 offered – sold for an average of £4,181, which was 35 per cent down on the 2007 figure.

Horses in training take centre stage on the second two days of the sale. Dueto grace the DBS ring are the smart Flat performers Tournedos and Philario, both Group 3 winners, as well as 2007 Chesham Stakes hero Maze.

Also entered are winning two-year-olds Kingdom Of Light, Makbullet, Here Now And Why, Sejanus and Kylladdie.

Entries from the National Hunt sphere include promising bumper winners Dumitas and Start Me Up, while Paul Nicholls will offer a draft that includes Sendani and Roby De Cimbre.

A dispersal of horses from Findlay & Bloom includes 125-rated hurdler Barnhill Brownie and seven-time winner Aachen.

In the horses in training sessions of last year's October Sales, 236 horses sold from 361 offered for a clearance rate of 65 per cent. The £5,084 average was down 13 per cent on 2007.
