DBS catalogues 193 horses for breeze-up sale
THE catalogue for the DBS Breeze-up Sales - the auction at which Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner Dream Ahead was unearthed for £36,000 last year - has been released.
It containes 193 horses, up slightly on last year's tally of 186. They will breeze on Doncaster racecourse on April 19 before they come under the hammer the following day.
Dubawi sired last year's £140,000 sale-topper, Group 3-placed Big Issue, and this time around he has two entries: a filly out of Listed winner Lady Angharad and half-sister to Group 3-placed Barefoot Lady, and a filly out of the Sadler's Wells mare Line Ahead, from the Ballymacoll family of Classic winners Golan and North Light.
Other blue-chip sires represented in the catalogue include Acclamation, Cape Cross, Elusive Quality, Green Desert, Iffraaj, Invincible Spirit, Pivotal, Red Ransom and Shamardal.
Among the eyecatching pedigrees on offer are Yeomanstown Stud’s Pivotal colt out of Group 2 winner Beyrouth, a Cape Cross half brother to Prix de la Foret winner Caradak offered by Gilbinstown Stud and a Dylan Thomas colt out of a half sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and leading sire Pleasantly Perfect consigned by Harefield Lodge.
DBS managing director Henry Beeby said: "Whilst the pedigrees are some of the best to have ever featured at this sale, the DBS inspection team are delighted with the physical specimens that have been put forward by our professional band of vendors and we are confident that this sale will appeal to purchasers looking to race horses on every continent and has all the requirements for a Premier League Breeze Up Sale."
