Goffs top price matched by Acclamation colt

THE €48,000 top price at today's opening session of the Goffs February Sale was equalled by a well-related son of Acclamation who, like the joint sale topper, hailed from the Honeypound Stud draft.

The colt in question, lot 204, was bought by the BBA Ireland’s Patrick Cooper who reported that he will be kept to race. The colt is out of a placed half-sister to Andre Fabre’s Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud and Group 3 Lingfield Derby Trial scorer Linda’s Lad.

Before that, Ciaran Conroy went to €27,000 for lot 198, a son of Oratorio from Yellowford Farm. He is a half-brother to two winners from a family that goes back to some top-class French runners. He could return here in the autumn for the Orby Sale.

Up to lot 204, the clearance rate stands at 44 per cent and the average is €6,356.
