Ferguson buys €190,000 Approve close relative

THE third and final day of the Goffs November Foal Sale soared into life when Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor John Ferguson paid €190,000 for an Invincible Spirit three-parts brother to Gimcrack Stakes winner Approve.

The price was just €10,000 short of last year's top-priced foal.

Consigned by Abbeville & Meadow Court Studs, whose owner EimearMulhern is chairman of Goffs, the colt was Ferguson's first purchase of the three-day sale, having bought three foals over four days for a combined €270,000 last year.

Meanwhile Redpender Stud’s Jimmy Murphy spent €70,000 on a Cape Cross colt from Ballybin Stud. The colt is a half-brother to the high class American runner and dual Group 2 winner On The Acorn.
