BARAAN (c Dalakhani-Brusca by Grindstone)

Breeder:  Haras De S A Aga Khan Scea

THE Aga Khan struck with a mare inherited from his purchase of the Lagardere bloodstock when Baraan overturned the hot favourite Maxios.

Although Baraan has a pedigree that lacks the classic continuity of most of his owner's stock, a quick glance at the sires sent to his dam, the Grindstone mare Brusca, tells you much about her background. For three years running, she was sent to the Lagardere stallion Linamix.

Subsequently sent  to an Aga Khan stallion, Daylami, she produced the Listed winner Brampour, who is now in training with Paul Nicholls.

Baraan is by Dalakhani, who has another exciting Aga Khan three-year-old this year in Vadamar, the winner of the Prix Francois Mathet at Saint-Cloud on April 3 and a possible now for the Derby.
