Glass Harmonium outbattles Redwood in the Gordon Richards Stakes

Second British Group winner for Verglas

GLASS Harmonium became the second son of Verglas to win a British Group race, when taking Sandown's Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes from Redwood.

The Ballymacoll-bred and -owned colt won last season's Listed Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was second at Group 3 level on his final run of last season, in the Thurlow Nunn Standen Darley Stakes at Newmarket.

Verglas stands at the Irish National Stud at a fee of €10,000, having started his studcareer in France.

The son of Highest Honor was trained in Ireland by Kevin Prendergast to win the Coventry Stakes at two, and he was second to Desert King in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Among his progeny are two French Group 1 winners, namely Silver Frost, Poule d'Essai des Poulains winner of 2009, and Prix Jean Prat winner Stormy River.

Love Lockdown, his other British Group winner, took the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes on Kempton's Polytrack as a juvenile last season.
