Group 2 Australian win for late sire Verglas

VERGLAS, the Irish National Stud stallion who died last month, received a post-humous tribute when his son Glass Harmonium ran out a Group 2 winner in Australia.

Owned and bred by Ballmacoll Stud but sold privately, the former Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding had previously been Group 1 and Group 2 placed in Australia before his success in the 11-furlong  Eagle Farm Cup.

Glass Harmonium is from the family of Conduit, Spectrum, and Petrushka out of a full-sister, by Darshaan, to Great Voltigeur winner Hard Top.

Verglas, a son of Highest Honor, sired two Group 1 winners worldwide and 27 European stakes winners, among them French 2,000 Guineas winner Silver Frost and Prix Jean Prat winner Stormy River.
