Monsieur Bond earns stud fee increase for 2011

BREAKTHROUGH stallion Monsieur Bond has earned himself a rise in stud fee for next year.

In his third season with progeny, Monsieur Bond has this year announced his arrival on the big stage with Gilt Edge Girl becoming his first Group 1 winner in the Prix de l’Abbaye, and Ladies Are Forever and My Name Is Bond also scoring at stakes level.

The 10-year-old son of Danehill Dancer will command a 2011 fee of £3,000 at Norton Grove Stud in North Yorkshire, up from £2,000 this year.

But those booking mares to Monsieur Bond before the end of this month will be entitled to pay the 2010 fee of £2,000.

“We felt we could have pitched him slightly higher after the success he’s had,” said John Smith, on behalf of the stallion’s owner Reg Bond, “but also with the bloodstock market the way it is, that £3,000 was a realistic price.”

Bond’s other stallion at stud, first-crop yearling sire Misu Bond at Hedgeholme in County Durham, will stand at £1,500 next year.
