First book of mares for Sea The Stars finalised

THE choice first book of mares set to visit Sea The Stars next year has been finalised according to John Clarke, an advisor to the Tsui family, who own the six-time Group 1 winner.

The half-brother to Galileo will stand for €85,000 next year’s at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud in County Kildare and some of the world’s best mares, including three-time Group 1 winner Lush Lashes who made 1.8 million gns at Tattersalls on Monday, are set to visit him.

"Sea The Stars is letting down nicely at Gilltown and the interest in him has been phenomenal, he’s been hugely oversubscribed as you’d imagine but his book is now decided," said Clarke.

"I don’t know the exact number of mares he will be covering, it depends on how many His Highness the Aga Khan and Tsui family send to him, but it is going to be a conservative number."

Clarke today paid 270,000gns for Speed Song, a four-year-old half-sister to the speedy Enticing who was offered in foal to Pivotal.

"She could go to Sea The Stars but nothing has been decided," added Clarke. "The Tsui family’s Sunderland Holding Inc are buying a couple of mares this week but they are not planning to increase their broodmare band massively but looking at it on a year by year basis."
