J J The Jet Plane: his sire Jet Master is proving popular in the sales ring

Jet Master tops on day two at Emperors Palace

JET MASTER topped the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale for the second successive day when his son, named Master Of My Fate, sold for R3 million (£270,120/€305,415). The colt is out of champion racemare Promisefrommyheart and was consigned - like yesterday's R3.2m top lot - by Varsfontein Stud.

Promisefrommyheart is a half-sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Pluck. She won the South African Fillies Guineas and is by Elliodor, a French-bred son of Lyphard. Master Of My Fate is a half-brother to the fillies Justthewayyouare, who won the Listed Spook Express Handicap at Turffontein last weekend, and 7f winner My Guiding Star.

Sire of J J The Jet Plane and Grade 1-winning brothers Pocket Power and River Jetez, Jet Master is the sire of six of the 13 lots to have sold for at least a million rand.

Two progeny of Giant's Causeway attracted spirited interest, including a filly from Summerhill Stud who sold for R2m to Gary Alexander. Named Blue Ridge Mountain, she is the first foal of the unraced Skyline Drive View, an unraced half-sister to Grade 2 winner Rock Star Show.

Skyline Drive View is out of Arsaan, Listed-placed in Britain and a half-sister to US Grade 1 winners Desert Wine and Menifee and to the dam of Fasliyev and Kamarinskaya.

Also in demand was the Giant's Causeway colt Coltrane, the eighth foal of Nuance, a Rainbow Quest half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Indian Haven and champion Italian juvenile Count Dubois, along with Place De L'Opera, dam of Group 2 winner Imperial Stride, Group 3 winner High Pitched and Epsom Derby fourth Hala Bek.

His second dam, Madame Dubois, won the Park Hill Stakes. This is also the family of Daggers Drawn and Kite Wood. He was sold by Wilgerbosdrift Stud to Good-Hope Racing.

The running aggregate stands at R74.3m, down 27 per cent on last year's R102.1m, with the average down 21 per cent at R260,579.
