Stud fee set for first-season-sire Tiago

TIAGO, winner of the Santa Anita Derby in 2007, has had a fee of $7,500 set for his first season at Adena Springs in Kentucky. By Pleasant Tap, the John Shirreffs-trained entire won a total of five races from twenty starts, four of which were in his classic season where he took two Grade 1s and two Grade 2 races, all over 1m1f.

He will stand alongside his half-brother and Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo, who having had his fee dropped from $10,000 this year, will command the same fee as Tiago in 2010. Giacomo's first crop are now yearlings and a colt of his fetched $180,000 at Keeneland in September. Pleasant Tap is also the sire of Brian Meehan's David Junior, a triple Group 1 winner of the Eclipse, Champion Stakes and Dubai Duty Free. Tiago also joins Ghostzapper and Awesome Again at the Kentucky stud.
