Gerfalcon to be offered at DBS/Goffs Carnival Sale

GERFALCON provided a timely advert for the DBS Premier Yearling Sale when collaring Gold City close home to land this year's running of the Ripon Champion Two-year-old Trophy.

The Brian Meehan-trained gelding was purchased by Jane Allison for £35,000 from Newsells Park Stud at last year's renewal.

More importantly, Gerfalcon is lot 144 in the upcoming DBS/Goffs Carnival Sale on September 9.

Gerfalcon is from the final Irish crop of runaway Lockinge Stakes hero Hawk Wing, who was sold by Coolmore in late 2008 to stand in Korea, and one of 14 stakes winners worldwide by the son of Woodman. Hawk Wing hit the heights earlier this year as the sire of Grade 1 American Oaks dead-heater Cambina.

Bred in Britain by Enterprise Bloodstock and Newsells Park Stud, Gerfalcon is a half-brother to three winners led by Grade 3 scorer Pasar Silbano. They are out of Give A Whistle, a dual-winning daughter of Mujadil from the family of Indian Lodge and Sarhoob.

Give A Whistle's yearling filly by Mount Nelson is catalogued as lot 76 in the Goffs Orby Sale.
