German Derby winner Buzzword to Besnate

LAST year's Deutsches Derby winner Buzzword has been retired to stand at Allevamento di Besnate near Milan in Italy.
He joins fellow former Godolphin inmates Gladiatorus and Ramonti, plus Denon, Mujahid and Pounced, on the Besnate roster for 2012.

Buzzword, a Darley-bred son of Pivotal, was among the best of his generation when trained by Saeed Bin Suroor at two. He beat Siyouni and Eightfold Path to win the Group 3 Prix La Rochette and finished placed in the Richmond Stakes, Solario Stakes and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

Switched to Mahmood Al Zarooni at three, Buzzword had finished fourth in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and third in the King Edward VII Stakes before pulling off a shock victory in the Deutsches Derby over subsequent Group 1 scorer Zazou. He was the first ever British-trained winner of the German Classic.

Buzzword is out of the Group 2-placed Danehill mare Bustling, a half-sister to Gallinule Stakes winner Exaltation from the family of Arc hero Saumarez and champion filly Lush Lashes.
