WINDSOR CASTLE, sire of Racing Post Chase hopeful Kilcrea Castle, will stand this year at John Jones's Gwernau Ganol Farm near Caerphilly in Wales at a fee of £500.

The son of Generous and three-parts brother to Grape Tree Road won the Queen's Vase and Northumberland Plate at three, and was retired to Clongeel Stud in County Cork.

Jones purchased him from Clongeel Stud last year and sent him 15 of his own mares, but is looking to attract outside mares this breeding season.

He said: "I bought him unseen but could not have been happier with him when he arrived from Ireland. He stands 16.1 hands, is a terrific looker and has a super temperament. He certainly deserves more chances at stud."
