Godolphin wait for 1,000 Guineas with Gamilati

GAMILATI will have her next start in either the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 6 or the French equivalent at Longchamp on May 13 after connections decided to miss Thursday's UAE Oaks.

The daughter of Bernardini was a five-and-a-half length winner of the UAE 1,000 Guineas on her last start but Godolphin have decided to keep her to 1m rather than step her up to 1m1½f.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin's racing manager, said: "We did not want to stretch Gamilati beyond a mile at this stage of her career which is why she is not in the UAE Oaks.

"We will wait until we get back to Europe before running her again and look at the English 1,000 Guineas and the French equivalent.

"Where she runs will all depend on the going - she won't want soft ground."

Gamilati, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, who took last year's 1,000 Guineas with Blue Bunting, has won three of her six starts with her biggest success coming in the 6f Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket in Julyand is 12-1 for the Guineas.
